Description

Via Ferrata is a very special activity with a quite extreme character that does not require prior experience. The fitness required is average, however one must not be afraid of heights

It is a climbing trail, “carved” on a steep hill, that employs steel cables, rungs or ladders all along the way. Access to its most exposed part, is ensured by using special equipment.

Via Ferrata takes place in river Aoos, next to Konitsa. The trail begins in Konitsa old bridge. Via Ferrata takes place in river Aoos, next to Konitsa. The trail begins in Konitsa old bridge.

We hike parallel to the river and cross 2 bridges. One small in Gravos of 6-7m length, and a longer one, Aoo’s thibetan, 17m long and 35m high!

In order to access the trail, we must take a mild 45′ hike over a beautiful, scenic route. Many impressive climbs follow, on steel ladders and a vertical rock, 60-70m above water. Around the middle of the route, we will meet several hiking sections, boasting beautiful scenic landscapes, and then end up in the historic bridge of Konitsa.

Along the way we will meet:

  • The two-arched Konitsa bridge
  • Aoos gorge
